In the 20th Century the ultimate treatment methodology “Organ transplantation” has become popular to the extent that we operate patients with organ malfunction
in danger of death to save their lives firmly and bring back their health.
However, this medical treatment always accompanies with human as a donor.
In the near future not only the development of treatment method without
relying on donor regardless brain-death or live, but also so-to-speak “Fabricating
Transplantable Organs” will be the MUST. I have a strong belief that the
            science to create entire organs (in the field of regenerative medicine;
I have named it as “Organ Fabrication”) will be the one memorable in the long history of Keio University School
of Medicine. Gathering all the knowledge and experiences I have acquired
so far, I’d like to challenge the further development of this science to
the degree that I create “Initiation” at Keio University School of Medicine.
I will do my best for the new professorship with the following three core
            values.
1.
“Initiate the science by
myself”
At the moment any kind of mighty cells such as iPS or ES are not able
            to generate organs
in vitro. I have been elaborating to research for the methodology how to
create human organs with complicated organ construction through maximizing the
usage of biomaterials. I would regenerate the same methodology in vitro to make it viable for fabricating transplantable organs. The Professor Yukichi Fukuzawa’s motto “Initiate the science by myself” representing courage and mission is the cornerstone where I develop the
new frontier of research field despite that lots of difficulties and trials
            lie in front of me. First of all, I further develop the ongoing researches;
“Generating pigs which accept human cells”, “Development of organ bud in
vitro” and “Restructuring organs based on the decellularization technology”.
2.  “Nurturing top-notch medical technology specialists on global basis”
Lots of outstanding people have already emerged from Keio University so
far. I would further accelerate the pitch through the globalization of
this science. Based on the medical technique training system applied before
and postgraduate students, I would generate my junior followers taking
medical science as practical one. Furthermore, I would extend my study
to a translational research as an advanced therapy together with not only
researchers on experimental medicine, physics, engineering, but also humane
            study with bioethics background.
3.
“Academia-Industry project supported by the Society”
Conclusively medicine would not become popular unless otherwise the corporations
provide us with pharmaceutical products or medical devices. It would be
highly risky for the corporations to get involved in the extremely challenging
researches from the basic studies. However, together with the corporations
with deep understanding of the feasible contribution to medicine and medical
treatments, I would set forth the project fairly and crystal clear in mind
“Fabricating Transplantable Organs”. Based on the said mindset, we properly
and periodically “Disclose” the information when it is deemed necessary.
